'Birding by the Lakeshore' -  John C. Walch
John's love for nature started when he was a kid living in rural De Pere.  John was a professional photographer for 15 years before setting his camera aside to help preserve the marine environment.  Specializing in reefs restoration and relocation has taken John to over 45 countries.  John's interest in photography was rekindled after moving back to Wisconsin and again being inspired by the natural beauty and diversity of birds around Kewaunee County, especially Algoma.

Open Door Bird Sanctuary LIVE birds - Amy and Rob Hults
Rob has been fascinated by nature and the outdoors since early childhood.  As an adult he volunteered at Schlitz Audubon Nature Center in Milwaukee and was offered the opportunity to work with their Skyhunters group, doing educational programs with birds of prey.  He soon fell under the spell of these magnificent animals and decided to make a career of working with them.

Amy grew up as the 3rd generation on Cherrydale Farm in Door County.  Her connection with animals began in early life.  In her teens she was a key staff member at 'The Farm' caring for the education animals and working with the public.  She currently is a Certified Veterinary Technician at Peninsula Vet in Sturgeon Bay.

'How to Attract, Feed, and House Birds' - Charlotte Lukes
Charlotte moved to Door County in May 1972 upon her marriage to Roy Lukes.  She continued working in her profession as a dental hygienist until retiring in the summer of 1998.  Charlotte also helped her husband with his nature education work at The Ridges Sanctuary proofreading his newspaper columns and later teaching in their own school called Nature-Wise.
She writes the weekly Peninsula Pulse column, 'Door to Nature', and writes nature features for the quarterly magazine 'Door County Living'.
Studying wild mushrooms since 1972 has helped her identify 585 different species in Door County.  Charlotte continues teaching, leading hikes, and presenting nature education programs throughout the county for many groups of interested people.
